Together, We Raised £16,252 to Support Refugee Women in Derby! Thank you.

We want to say a really big thank you to those who donated to our Christmas Challenge appeal, in partnership with the Big Give. Together, we raised an incredible £16,252 to support refugee women and their children to thrive in Derby!

Since the beginning of this year, we have been able to support 176 women through our Upbeat Women support group, and 58 children through our Upbeat Kids holiday sessions.

The money raised through our appeal will enable us to keep supporting more women and children like this. We’ll be able to go on providing English classes for women who otherwise might not have the confidence to leave the house; we’ll be able to give refugee kids time to be kids through crafts, sports and days out; and we’ll be able to keep meeting practical needs by providing hot meals, and baby equipment for new mums.

This means more and more refugees who have fled war, persecution, or extreme violence, will be able to find belonging at Upbeat, and say, like our friend Edith, “We have found a home away from home at Upbeat.”
