Fundraise

Raise money for a local refugee charity making an impact in Derby.

There are lots of great ways to have fun, whilst raising money for our work empowering refugees in Derby. Here’s some inspiration if you’re stuck for where to start with your own fundraiser:

Twin your baby shower

Upbeat works closely with refugee mothers in our city who are often very isolated. If you’re expecting a baby, you can invite your guests to make a monetary donation towards our work. Click below to read about Nicky’s experience twinning her baby shower.

Bake with your little ones

Fancy a bit of baking? A simple bake sale is a great way to get kids involved, feed people, and raise awareness for our work. You could be like Charlotte, who raised £162.75 thanks to the Duffield Dynamos Under 6 team — and their hungry parents!

Get on your bike

If you’re sporty, you could cycle a long way like Tim and Beate, who took part in the coast-to-coast challenge and raised £1295 for Upbeat! Or, you could take part in a triathlon like Chris from Nationwide, who raised £832 by swimming, cycling and running his way to the finish line.

Join us in the Derby 10K 2025!

What?

  • The Derby 10K is an annual event held by Derby County Community Trust (DCCT), in which hundreds of people at all ages and stages of life run for fun, or to raise money for different causes. Visit their website for more info.

When?

  • The race will take place on the morning of Sunday 6th April 2025, from 9am-11am.

Where?

  • Derby — starting and ending at Pride Park Stadium.

Why?

  • Upbeat Communities relies on donations from generous members of the public to fund a great deal of our work. That’s why we’re looking for some enthusiastic fundraisers to help spread the word about what we do: supporting refugee families at all ages and stages through English classes, support groups, community meals, and much more. These projects offer a lifeline of community and belonging for refugees rebuilding their lives in the UK — but we need your help to sustain them into the future.

Who can take part?

  • Anybody who is able. The 10K is suitable for practiced runners — it helps if you have run at least a 5K in the past. If you’re a first-time runner, or have a particular health difficulty that means long distances are not advised, we would highly recommend running the 3K family fun race instead of the main 10K event.

We support our amazing fundraisers every step of the way, and will provide you with everything you need, from money boxes, to posters you can advertise in places of interest. Just email hello@upbeatcommunities.org and we’ll be in touch!
