It's Refugee Week! Join the Celebrations
This Refugee Week, we’re celebrating the diverse and incredible people seeking refuge that contribute to life in Derby, culminating in a Festival of Welcome on Saturday 24th June. You’re invited!
Recently, we asked a class of Upbeat English students to tell us the jobs they had in their home countries.
The responses were vast, showing a richness and depth of diversity amongst our community that we are very proud of.
From a baker to a boxer, a teacher to a truck driver, a make-up artist to a mechanic, a shepherd to a software engineer. All incredible individuals with important stories to tell.
You’re invited to come and celebrate with some of our community, and partner organisations helping refugees to thrive in our city, at ‘Hello Derby… A Festival of Welcome’ on Saturday 24th June. We’ll be having a day of fun, creativity, conversation and compassion together at the Museum of Making, Silk Mill Lane, Derby DE1 3AF, from 11am-3pm.
It’s entirely free, and everyone is welcome!
